Chapter Ten

Summersby arrived in Hobberly at ten o’clock the next morning, having enjoyed himself with Rose most extremely the previous night. His understanding of Dr. Brown’s advice on the subject of marital discipline encouraged him to whip her soundly for infractions like covering her nakedness without permission, and he had no wish to deny that he enjoyed punishing her very greatly. Accordingly, since he wouldn’t see her for—when he thought honestly about the matter—six months, affairs of state being what they were, he thrashed his intended bride with great severity before wanking her to several very shameful spends.

He did feel strongly that Rose should not be allowed too many climaxes, and should be allowed none at all if he were not present. He felt his own magnanimity at allowing his bride so many spends as a parting gift, after thrashing her. It would, he thought, surely leave her thinking of him often while he was far from her side. She would dread his cane and long for his knowing touch. Rose Hale would be very ready for a honeymoon, and then a marital chamber, full of the most shameful delights a natural man can visit upon a girl in his power.

His cock stood high again at the thought of it as the train pulled into Hobberly station, and for a moment he regretted leaving Darlington. But the invitation to Hobberly really was a pressing matter, and vital to his career. He knew that he would in all probability see the sort of debauches for which the earl had gained such fame, and he thought that perhaps Dr. Brown might not find it amiss if he should participate in them, a little, as a natural man.

Rose need never know, of course, though Summersby felt that the good doctor would certainly encourage the natural man to tell his young lady of the pleasures he took with other girls, in order to teach her how to please her protector the more. Perhaps someday Summersby would even bring Rose here to Hobberly and offer her to his fashionable friends—Dr. Brown specified that the free sharing of a girl’s charms showed the disinterested spirit characteristic of the enlightened modern master.
